exactEarth Canadian company offering AIS data services has brought five more satellites into service. These additional satellites will raise the total to nine in its real-time system.
According to exactEarth, the data from satellites launched in partnership with Harris Corporation, will be incorporated into exactEarth services. Eight more satellites are set to launch with Iridium NEXT in early October. exactEarth plans to create the 2nd generation system and to deploy the world’s largest satellite constellation providing AIS data. When fully deployed, the system will consist of more than 70 payloads delivering actionable data and will enable significant advances in maritime safety, security and efficiency.
Currently exactEarth system effectively tracks more than 250,000 vessels worldwide.
