Vassiliy Osmakov, Deputy RF Minister of Industry and Trade, told TASS News Agency on the sidelines of the International Arctic Forum that in late 2017 Russia’s Shipyards will be Prepared for Construction of an Icebreaker with 120 MW capacity.

“We will be ready to start construction late this year”, – he pointed out. “By this time the technical design will have been finalized”.
According to Mr. Osmakov, 2017-2018 will be the time to make a final decision on placement of new orders and capacity of ordered icebreakers – 60 MW or 120 MW.

The Deputy Minister remarked that that Russian dockyards could start manufacturing an ice-breaker with 60 MW capacity at any moment, since they had required competence.
